I recently got a new laptop (only had it for two months now) and have started to have issues with the touchpad. When clicking it, its fine, but when touching it, it makes this horrendous rattly sound that is incredibly annoying. Are there any fixes for this? Does anyone else have the same problem?

@CuttingEdge,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92976.exe

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you uninstall the touchpad driver from device manager and then download and install it from the below link.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92861.exe

Here is how it is done.

Uninstall:

  1. Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi, my issue was more hardware and the sound that the trackpad makes when clicking, so I don't think that this helps me.

Thank you for trying.

Thank you very much for responding, but there is no option to call or speak to HP, there is only the option to visit the support community or find HP service centres (of which I believe there are none near me). How would I go about contacting HP? I am in the UK.
