Hi Paul,

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook Home Premium dv7 6113cL with an AMD A6-3400M APU 4 core and 4 thread CPU running Windows 10.

The model # is QE360UA#ABA.

The motherboard is an HP 3591, version 33.18.

It has 6GB RAM; however, I want to upgrade to 16GB.  If I am able to do that, will "all" of the RAM be utilized?

Or am I constrained to only upgrading to 8GB?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842278

The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.

Only the notebooks with Intel processors can take up to 16 GB of memory.

The max for yours is 2 x 4 GB.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the service manual link.  It is very helpful.

As for my currently installed 4GB  DDR3 RAM, Speccy states that I have the following specs:

Type: DDR3

Max Bandwidth: PC3-10700 (667 MHz) (However, the memory stick says 10600)

Latency:  9-9-9 clocks (JEDECs show from 5.0 to 10.0)

Voltage: 1.500 V

In checking the internet for possible replacement RAM, I am getting multiple recommendations for RAM, such as:

Type:  DDR3 and DDR3L.  Does it matter which one I buy?

Max Bandwidth:  I am predominately seeing 10600 1333 MHz and12800 1600 MHz.  Would the latter work?

Latency: Would different clock speeds work, especially smaller numbers?

Voltage: The 12800 1600MHz is 1.35 V.  Would that work?

Also, do you have an opinion as to whether Crucial (only showing the 12800 1600MHz), Data Memory Systems, Kingston, or Memory Masters might have the better RAM?  Prices are fairly similar.

You're very welcome.

I suggest you find DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) memory that is 1.5V.  DDR3L is 1.35V and may not work.

You also need low density memory...memory with 8 little black chips on each side of the circuit board, not 4.

So, if you can find memory like that, you should be fine.

Some suggestions of brands and part numbers...
