You're very welcome.

If the command indicated that you can install 2 x 16 GB of memory, then I guess you can do that if you want to.

If HP installed a DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip in there, then you should also buy an 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip to match the specs of the original one--even if it is only going to run at 2400 MHz.

You should be able to install any compatible brand, but if you do, I would play it safe and get the 8 GB DDR4-memory chip that Crucial recommends for your notebook from the report I posted above.

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM | CT8G4SFRA266 | Crucial FR

The 'Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable,' statement means that HP wants any upgrades to be performed by an authorized service center.

If you feel you can do the work yourself without breaking anything in the process, you can upgrade the memory yourself.

Chapter 6 of the service manual has the memory removal and replacement procedure.

Hi:

There isn't any utility that I know of where you can find the maximum memory frequency that will run at that frequency.

However, most of the time you just need to know the processor specs and from the specs you can determine how fast the processor can run the memory.

On AMD notebooks, and some Intel ones you have to check the service manual for the specific model notebook you have.

If you provide the full model number or product number of your notebook, I should be able to let you know the maximum frequency the processor can run the memory at.

Use this guide to find the model number or product number of your notebook...please do not post the serial number.

Hi, again:

If this is the notebook you are referring to from your other discussion, 17-By0024nf...

The maximum speed your notebook's Intel® Core™ i5-8250U processor can run the memory at is 2400 MHz.

Intel® Core™ i5-8250U Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz)

So if you were to install faster memory such as DDR4-2666 MHz or DDR4-3200 MHz, it will only run at 2400 MHz.

As far as adding more memory, I definitely recommend that you add at least another 4 GB DDR4 memory chip to your notebook.

4 GB of memory is barely adequate with today's needs.

Not only that, with a single memory chip your notebook's memory is running in the lower performing single channel mode.

If you add another 4 GB memory, not only will you have 8 GB of memory, but the memory will run in the higher performing dual channel mode.

Your notebook has two memory slots and can take a max of 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Hi and thanks for your reply .

thanks linking the maintenance guide corresponding to my notebook , i was searching it for many days ............

i ' ve seen on the maintenance guide that i can add a 8Gb memory module :

Memory Two memory module slots (7th and 8th generation Intel Core processors):Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeableDDR4-2400 dual channel support (8th generation Intel processors)DDR4-2133 dual channel support (7th generation Intel processors)Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following configurations:
16384 MB (8192 MB×2)
12288 MB (8192 MB×1 + 4096 MB×1)
8192 MB (8192 MB×1)
4096 MB (4096 MBx1)

can i add a module of any brand ? or should i buy exactly same brand and characteristics same as which is installed ?

i ' m not sure the maintenance guide is update because when i launch your command line :

i had as result 32 Go after conversion .

when i look at installed RAM , it appears that it is a 2666 Mhz module ...
