I have the same problem as stated above and tried the driver : sp78033.exe. It seemed to install OK but I still keep getting the same Windows 10 notification which is
"Your computer needs to be restarted in order to finish setting up the device. HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor"
I started to receive this message today after I installed the latest Windows 10 creator update.
Model: M7-N109DX (HP Envy M7 Notebook)
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit) version 1703 OS Build: 15063.332 (Creator edition just installed)
Please help

Hello @Computerfixer,
Open the Windows Control Panel, select Programs and Features, right click the entry for the HP 3D DriveGuard, and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When you are at the Windows desktop, download and install this version of HP 3D DriveGuard at the link below, and restart the PC.

Hello @Computerfixer,
See if reinstalling the HP 3D Driveguard driver resolves the problem.
This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection) for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard Software protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.
File name: sp71811.exe

Well I installed the driver you suggested (SP71811.exe) but I still keep getting the same message after the installation. This is the message indicating that "your computer needs to be restarted in order to finish setting up device "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor". By the way I did restart the computer a few times but the same message keeps appearing.
Any other thoughts?

I keep getting this message, too, since doing the creator's update for Windows 10.
I went to the list of programs and features (now called Apps and Features) on my HP 15-ab153nr laptop and found no line item for HP 3D DriveGuard at all. [Yet when I went to the list of updates it did show this HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor as installed!]
So I seemlingly have nothing to uninstall---do I now go straight to the ftp link and install sp78033 ?
