I am having the same issue - mine is BRAND new out of the box.

It is so loud. Like a high pitched whining. It is terribly irritating. Is there any way to fix this? Or are all of them like this? I feel like it should not be this loud.

Anyone have any advice? I am thinking of returning this one for a new one of the same model... But, I am afraid the new one will be just as loud.

@AmberLeannDrake,

Good day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP support forums. I reviewed the post and will be more than happy to assist you here. Great description of the issue. Kudos to you for that.

  • Please let me know the complete model # of the computer to assist you correctly.
  • Does the computer overheat or freeze or shut down randomly?

Let's try these steps:

If the issue persists, then run diagnostics on the fan from this link:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-n000-notebook-pc-series/5401225/model/5422975/do... (HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures)

Select the fan option from the component tests section.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
