Hello, I upgraded in my ProBook 4530s (XY022EA#BCM) the CPU from Intel Core i5-2410M to Intel Core i7-2670QM (BIOS updated on the latest from 2018). After turning on only black screen (without HP logo) and the CapsLock blinks 5 times, after that the FAN starts turning at high speed and that´s all. When I put back the original CPU everything works well.

How can I turn on the notebook with the Core i7?

Please help me

Thank You in advance.

No all you can do is put it in another working computer known to be compatible.

Your motherboard is the oldest version of the 4530s with only USB 2.0 ports. Admittedly the Service Manual makes it appear that any of the CPUs will work on any of the motherboards but I suspect your motherboard may not actually support the Quad Core processor. About all I can think you can do that might change the outcome is to put the old processor back and be sure you have updated to the latest BIOS, if you have not already.

Updating the BIOS was my first thougt too, so I´ve done it. I installed the F.65 Rev.A version. If it help, here is a picture of the motherboard sticker.

Is there any chance that updating the chipset dirver will help?

HP Recommended

No because the chipset driver does not kick in until after the processor is activated so the only hope is the BIOS since the BIOS is active at the very beginning of POST.

Understand. So either my motherboard doesn´t support this CPU or the CPU what I bought is dead?

I could not have stated it more succinctly. By all appearances on paper it should work.

So what do you suggest?

Ummm, its a quandry. Likely no way to test the processor on any other computer. Where did you get it? If from eBay I can say I buy a lot of laptop parts and processors are by far the most troublesome with the most frequent instance of vendors selling dead ones as good. And you can't tell a dead processor by looking, usually.

Today I tried the CPU in another Probook 4530s with a P/N: A1D23EA#BCM, but the result was completely the same. After turning on, nothing on the screen, caps lock 5x blinks and the FAN starts turning on max.  So I think the CPU is probably dead 😞 Do You have other advice to test it? Thank You in advance.
