I have tried many things to get wifi working properly on my elitebook 835 - with little succes. Finally I have decided to just ditch the 8852be and replace it with someting that works (on linux). Any intel card suggestion I could use instead?

There are only two supported model Wi-Fi cards listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual.

Qualcomm WCN6856 Wi-Fi 6E Bluetooth 5.2 WLAN HP part # M85448-001
Realtek 8852BE Wi-Fi 6 Bluetooth 5.2 WLAN HP part # M91238-001
If you want to experiment with an Intel card, the only one I can think of that might work in your notebook is this one:
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part #L35282-005
