Hi @Lissa09

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the concern regarding the heating of your HP laptop. It is positive that you noticed this early, and we can proceed with specific steps to improve the performance and cooling.

Please follow these recommended actions:

Update BIOS and Drivers

  • Visit HP’s official support site: HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your product number (1H85435962) and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers. These updates often include thermal management improvements.

Check Power Settings

  • In Windows, go to Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Ensure the plan is set to Balanced rather than High Performance, which can reduce unnecessary heat.

Clean Air Vents

  • Place the laptop on a hard, flat surface.
  • Ensure the vents are not blocked. Use compressed air to gently clear dust from the cooling vents.

Update HP System Firmware

  • In the HP App, check for Updates under Settings.
  • Apply any available system firmware updates.

Here is the official HP guide for overheating issues: HP Notebook PCs - Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating

These steps are designed to optimize cooling and maintain smooth operation.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
