I have HP 15s DU 3053 TU laptop and recently I have changed the full body cover with same 15s du series and it supported well. but the problem is that the new touchpad doesn't work as it seems to belong to 15s du 3563 tu. In device manager, the I2C HID Device says:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A request for the HID descriptor failed.
Most importantly, driver updates don't work. It seems like the the touchpad may be disabled in the BIOS and the BIOS is locked with certain hardware and doesn't allow even slightly different model no.
Is there any way to use it? unlock the secret BIOS settings?
Note: There is no advanced settings in the bios.
Please help!!!!!!!

Hi @Dasbabu123,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We completely understand how disappointing it must feel to complete the hardware swap on your HP 15s-du3053tu, only to run into limitations with the new touchpad not being recognised.
Unfortunately, HP consumer laptops like the 15s series have BIOS firmware that tightly maps internal hardware IDS, especially for sensitive components like touchpads and keyboards, to the specific system model they’re designed for. When hardware from a different model (like the 15s-du3563tu touchpad) is connected, the BIOS may not initialise it properly, resulting in the Code 10: A request for the HID descriptor failed error.
You can try a BIOS Restore however, this is not a fix. You can try to check if this doesn't help; it could be a hardware issue, and the touchpad needs to be replaced.
BIOS Restore :
1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
