The PC supports both M.2 2280 NVMe and SATA SSDs.
SATA drives B + M key. NVMe SSDs M key.
Either one will fit in the slot because the slot only has one M key, and both type of drive's notches would fit in that key.
The SATA drive's second notch just doesn't make contact with the exposed pins in the slot.
The PCIe slot is Gen 3.0 x 2, which means a PCIe Gen 3 x 4 SSD will only run at 1/2 of its advertised read/write speeds since the slot is only two lanes, not four.
You are better off buying a Gen 4 SSD because they will be easier and less expensive than trying to find an older PCIe Gen 3.0 SSD unless you buy a used one.
The notebook can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 CL17 memory.

Sorry, you're right.
I just looked up the motherboard part number and there is only one memory slot which means that only 1 x 8 GB of memory is supported.
HP 15-DA Sries Motherboard Intel Pentium CPU 4417U 2.30GHz P/N: L51366-601 | eBay
I was under the impression that the Pentium Gold motherboards had two slots.
The service manual doesn't even list the Pentium Gold processor in chapter 1.
The M.2 slot should support either drive.
NVMe drives would be faster than SATA.
