The six buttons (three for the trackpad and three for the pointing stick) have sticky rubber. Goo Gone does little to remove it I have used rubbing alcohol with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it removes the sticky rubber, but perhaps too aggressively. One of the buttons has a significant amount of rubber removed leaving exposed plastic in its center. I'm fine with that.

I will continue to use Magic Eraser with Rubbing Alcohol, but if there's a better way to remove the sticky rubber, I'd love to know about it. I am considering removing the top case so I can isolate the buttons from the rest of the laptop as I clean the buttons. I'm also considering taking the time to scrape the sticky rubber with a hobby knife.
