there’s nothing wrong with the hardware/software, it works. The warrant has already expired and there’s a spot where something is loose. I’ve got a toolkit here for small screws and such, but am having trouble getting the back panel on, seeing as it envelops the DVD drive. My intention would be to upgrade the RAM for an 8gb to a 16gb and possibly find the loose/damaged component that I keep clicking back into place. I’ve never tried to take it apart before. There are 4 small screws on the back. I have unscrewed them and placed them in a safe spot (in a plastic bag) and still cannot get the panel off. It actually seems pretty sturdy and useable without the screws in place. I also made sure to shut it down before trying to remove the panel.
this last picture is where the hardware has been loose for years. Help would be appreciated.
the tools at my disposal. Thanks again. -Randall

Hi:
There are screws you have to remove under the rubber foot strips, and you have to remove the optical drive.
See chapter 6 at the link below for how to remove the bottom cover.
