Hi @JIMMYMACC

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP Envy laptop is showing a black screen and is not displaying anything even after trying basic fixes. This issue is usually related to power, display, or system startup failure. Please follow these steps in order:

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the laptop completely (hold power button for 30 seconds).
  • Disconnect the charger and all external devices (USB, HDMI, etc.).
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug in the charger only and try turning it on.

Check for Display Response

  • After pressing the power button, look for:
  • Power light turning on
  • Fan noise
  • Keyboard backlight
  • If you see signs of power but no display, continue next step.

Try External Display Test

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
  • Press Windows + P (or use display toggle key like F4/F8 depending on model).
  • If display appears externally, the issue may be with the laptop screen or backlight.

Perform BIOS Recovery

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press and hold Windows + B (or Windows + V) keys.
  • While holding, press the Power button for 2–3 seconds, then release power but keep holding keys for 10–15 seconds.
  • If BIOS recovery screen appears, follow instructions.

Check Brightness / Display Toggle

  • Press Fn + brightness up key
  • Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset display driver

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
