I would like to replace the standard HDD with a SSD.
Is the notebook capable of accepting the SSD (since it's a SATA connection, I expect that a SSD would fit with no problem)?
Also, is there a capacity limitation? I would prefer to install a 1TB unit.
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers ... Peter

Yes it is doable. See p. 50 of the Service Manual here:
You can replace the mechanical hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. This, as you have guessed is a simple swap operation as the SSD and the hard drive are the same as far as size, mounting hole location, SATA connectors, etc.
You can alternately add an M.2 type SATA disk to the existing hard drive. The location of the M.2 slot and mounting hole is to the right of the hard drive as here:
M.2 location
The M.2 gumstick disk would plug into the 2-chambered slot just below and to the right of the text box and attach
where the mounting screw is shown.
A 1 TB 2.5 inch SATA SSD or M.2 would be no problem. Post back with any more questions about software migration or anything else.

Same question, different laptop, HP EliteBook Folio 9480m with HDD p/n 703267-0001 (500GB).
The 9480m Parts Manual-General lists the following
769711-001 32GB solid-state drive (SSD) - MLC mSATA (M.2) module
769712-001 120GB solid-state drive (SSD) - MLC mSATA (M.2) module
769713-001 128GB solid-state drive (SSD) - SATA-3 interface, 2.5-inch form factor
769714-001 180GB solid-state drive (SSD) - SATA-3 interface, 2.5-inch form factor
769715-001 240GB solid-state drive (SSD) - SATA-3 interface, 2.5-inch form factor
769716-001 256GB solid-state drive (SSD) - SATA-3 interface, 2.5-inch form factor, self-encrypting drive
(SED OPAL2)
If I go the non-HP route (would prefer larger drive), how can I be certain I am purchasing a compatible SDD? Is there a way to cross reference compatible HP devices?
Thanks in advance
