HP Pavilion 15z M7D88AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, i have an HP Pavilion 15z M7D88AV, I am looking to replace my Optical Drive, which is a SuperMulti DVD burner, part number K8Y71AV.  The Optical drie vibrates from time to time and about 30% of the time will not read a DVD or a disc. I am having a hard time finding a replacement drive, but I also figured that if I was going to replace the drive, I might as well upgrade, so is there a Blu Ray Optical drive for my laptop that will fit internally in the same slot as the current SuperMulti DVD burner?  I know I can get USB plug-in Blu Ray drives, but I would like to have an internal one if possible.  Thank you.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

This is an internal DVD drive issue and you can replace the faulty DVD drive, However, if internal hardware or broken connector
replaying the DVD drive might not resolve the issue, I would suggest shipping the unit in for physical diagnosis will resolve the issue.

And, also you can purchase replacement parts from HP support. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

I tried looking on HP.com for a replacement drive, but the partnumber from the DVD drive and the laptop product sheet did not come up with an matches.  I was just looking to see if a Blu Ray Optical Drive was available as a replacement option.  Thank you Echo_Lake.

To get the answer to this question, Yes you can install Blu- rays drive and the best way to play Blu-rays on Windows is to use CyberLink PowerDVD.
