Hello, my laptop recently stopped working. At the moment it stopped working the screen devided into colourful grids and then shut off. At first the laptop wouldn't switch on, then I tried removing the battery and holding the power button for 1 minute. The laptop is now able to flash its caps lock LED for 3 long intervals. I then tried to re seat the memory as shown by the video on the hp website but the caps lock LED continues to flash for 3 long intervals. I tried contacting HP and Currys PC world for help but as the Laptop is not 367 days old they both refuse to help me and I'm at a loss with what to do.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to Windows and the caps lock light is blinking.

I have completed the steps of c01732674 and have had no luck with getting the computer able to boot to windows or BIOS. After further research I have found that the problem is a faulty motherboard which is a common problem in HP computers. It is not a worthwhile fix as it is estimated to cost £300-£350 to fix and is not likely to last longer than 12 months.

I recommend you contact support and check for the available service options once.
Here is how you can get in touch with support.
1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

A new laptop is always an option but there are ways to get the laptop repaired for much less than the cost HP quoted you. Motherboards can be repaired by very advanced technical shops and an online industry has developed to do so. Cost is more like $100-150 US. It is typically warranted for no more than 90 days but no reason to think the repair will not last as long as the motherboard otherwise would have. Post back if you are interested in pursuing. I am not financially interested in this, just offering an alternative.
