Product: HP Elitebook 840 (G1? 4yrs old)
Operating System: Linux

I recently replaced the battery in my HP Elitebook 840 (which has served me well for the last 4 years), but my laptop still has the same problem. I fully charge my laptop, but Ubuntu says that I have only 40 mins left before my laptop dies, I get to about 70% battery then soon (2 mins or so) after I get a notification saying my laptop has 5% battery and will soon die (which it does). This is almost certainly a hardware problem in my opinion, and any help would be appreciated.

Did you replace it with a genuine HP battery? Have you run the battery diagnosis test either in HP Support Assistant or in the pre-boot UEFI diagnostics?
