The original battery failed on my laptop after about 3 years of use. I bought a replacement battery and got the correct model needed for the replacement. When I put the new battery in, my laptop doesn't detect the battery. I can turn my laptop on while unplugged and the battery status doesn't change. When I plug the AC power cord in, I get a white blinking light instead of the solid orange light that indicates the battery is charging. I've tried removing the battery and putting it back in, restarting my laptop, power cycling the laptop. Deleting the drivers and reinstalling them doesn't work either. Nothing seems to work. When I restart the laptop, it won't turn on unless I have it plugged in and the battery icon says its at 100% even though its not. Power cycling gets it back to the original issue. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I just saw your reply and I thank your for replying but the issue has been resolved. To fix the issue I held down the power button for 15 seconds WHILE the battery was installed. After I did that it started charging normally and HP assistant was able to detect it. Maybe this will help those in the future.
