HP Notebook - 15-ay065nr

Hello,

I bought my HP Notebook in December 2016 and am in need of replacing the battery since the laptop no longer holds its charge without being plugged in, and lately it does not even register being plugged in.

I have looked online for the proper replacement battery, which is listed as HP Spare 807956-001. However, so far all the possible replacements I have found are 14.6V, and the one for my current battery is only 10.95V / 31Wh. I have seen other questions with this same issue and answers being mixed as to whether or not the 14.6v is also compatible. I don't want to risk using an incompatible battery.

Because of this difficulty to find an exact replacement, should I consider purchasing a new laptop instead? I am wondering from this search if my laptop has become too old to find legitimate replacement parts.

Thank you in advance for any explanations or solutions you might offer!

@Sarah_Marie , welcome to the forum.

Here is the page for your laptop in HP Partsurfer.  If you look in the section titled "Battery" it lists the part number of the replacement battery (807596-001).  It appears that you can order it directly from HP using this page by placing a check in the box.  This will add the battery to your Cart.  Replacing your laptop hopefully is the last resort.

Thank you!

It appears the battery is on backorder with currently none in stock, and 85 dollars is a bit more than I was hoping to spend for a battery since I was planning to update my laptop in another year anyway. Hopefully I can find a less costly alternative for now.

Thank you for your prompt reply and thorough suggestion though! I really appreciate it.

@Sarah_Marie, This may be a less expensive alternative:  https://www.amazon.com/NinjaBatt-807956-001-807957-001-807612-421-HSTNN-LB6U/dp/B01NA005AW/ref=sr_1_...

I don't know anything about the seller, but since it is being sold through Amazon the should be fine.  I would contact them to assure the battery is compatible with your laptop.
