Hi All
My backlit keyboard is acting up.First keyboard died about 2 years ago. this is hte second.
Worked fine for a while then goes dead. Keys move but no reaction from the computer
Uninstall in device manager often gets it working
Does not seem to happen in Safe Mode
Problem first occured 6 months ago and then went away.
Just started again.
Had the keyboard out and connections look good
Curent driver from 2006 so hopefully . . . .

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- Is this a HP ENVY dv6-7331sa Notebook?
- According to the specifications, I see that this Notebook was shipped with Win 8, did you downgrade the OS to Win 7 by any chance?
- If that is the case then there might be a software/driver conflict that can cause this issue.
Let us try these steps:
Step 1: Update Windows
Select Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update.
Restart the computer.
Step 2: Run HPSA to diagnose and fix the issue
1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Note: If you do not have HPSA installed on your computer, click here to download the same by choosing your Operating system.
Let me know how this goes.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

The shipped with OS was a pile of rubbish so I went back to Win7 Win 7 has worked fine for several years.
As you point out this is a non-standard setup so HPSA, which is unhelpful at the best of times, turned out to be useless; Intermittent problems are beyond its pay grade.
Windows Update unnecessary as computer kept up to date
Possible software / driver issue is the reason for wanting a more up to date driver
So, as per the original question, where can I get a more up to date keyboard driver?

- Is this the integrated keyboard or an external keyboard?
- Click on this link to Check for the drivers for this PC. However, the only available Operating system choices are Win 8 and Win 8.1
- Let us run a test on the keyboard to check if the hardware part is working fine.
- Search windows for and open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Window on your PC
- Click on Component tests > Keyboard
- If you do not have a HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Window on your PC, click here to download the same on a flash drive, connect it to your PC and run the tool.
If the above steps do not help, please contact our HP Support team for Service Options as it could be a possible hardware issue:
1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the appropriate option based on your preference.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
