Compaq Presario CQ61-324CA
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi; I have to order a replacement screen for

Compaq Presario CQ61-324CA

but there seems to be 2 options 30pin and 40pin

How do I determine without tearing apart the laptop?

HP PN 577077-001  I think, not sure, but it is discontinued and does not give a description.

So I have to order from alternate part source.

Your model the Cq61-300 series straddled the line between old school CCFL and LED screens and different models had either one. There is no way you are going to be sure to get the right replacement without opening it up and looking at what you have. When I am replacing a screen I always do that, anyway. Too much chance of error otherwise.

Your Service Manual

Start on p. 4-21.

You will have to open it to put a new screen in anyway. right?
