Hi,

I just received a replacement battery that I ordered online. Since the sticker on the battery says that I should replace it with a L11119-855, that's the one I ordered. Turns out that there are different batteries with the same part number. The Vdc and mAh of the battery my notebook came with (L11421-546) differ from those of the replacement I received (L11421-2c3). Both are original HP parts, have a sticker that says that you should replace them with a L11119-855 and are HT03XL. The only difference is in their Vdc and mAh, so I'm unsure if it is safe to use the newer one and if there might be other issues. Right now there is no battery in my notebook and I already experience a dip in performance when I run games compared to when the battery was still installed. So I'm wondering if I would even regain that performance with the new battery.

Here is a comparison of both batteries. Both have different Vdc printed all over them as well, and that just adds more to the confusion.

the old one that came with the notebook

L11421-546: 11.55V, 41.7Wh, 3470mAh, PSE Nihon HP 11.55Vdc, Arrow 11.55Vdc, CQC HP Inc. 13.2 Vdc

the new one

L11421-2C3: 11.4V, 41.04Wh, 3420mAh, PSE Nihon HP 11.4Vdc, Arrow 11.4Vdc, CQC HP Inc. 13.05Vdc

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

Old one: L11421-546

     https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=L11421-546

New one: L11421-2C3

     https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=L11421-2C3   (invalid)

Therefore I can't compare them.

Regards.

Thank you for your reply.

It's a little bit confusing that the battery does not show up in the partsurfer. You can actually find the very same battery on the website of IPC-Computer, an HP business partner (https://www.ipc-computer.eu/laptop-spare-parts/batteries/battery-l11119-855-32996596). They list L11421-2C3 as a sub-part number though, so maybe that's the reason?

The photos show exactly the kind of battery I received. The only difference is that the label on the package reads L11119-856BU under the barcode instead of L11119-855BU like in the photo.

According to their FAQ, differences of up to one volt should be safe to use. So I guess I should be good to go, and the new battery just has a marginally lower capacity. Can anyone verify this?
