Replacement battery for laptop '15-bs043na' 2CQ65EA#ABU - why so difficult?

Lost the battery for this laptop, it's only 6 months old and looking to find one, sounds simple enough.

Firstly, what kind of freakish model is this laptop? It doesn't belong to any known HP line, ie Pavillion.  HP Support Assistant identifies it only as 'HP Laptop 15-bs0xx'. I contacted HP support and they gave me a part number of 919701-850 which does link to a battery but the places selling it have such low resolution images it's too difficult to tell so I contaced them, 4 so far and every one has said this is not the battery you are looking for. Yes, obviously I can order anyway and see what turns up, but why is this so difficult.

How can you help? If you have this model of laptop, it would help greatly if you could remove the battery and give me the part number. I believe the laptop was bought from tesco, it seems to be of a decent spec and new-ish, obviously only being 6 months old, so perhaps it is a customised model for supermarkets? 

If HP support can help to confirm this is the correct battery and where I can buy one (the HP site is terrible, I did search and I found about 4 batteries you can buy)!

Hi,

The correct part number is the 919701-850  (which was given to you). You can see on page 38 of service manual. I think that when you call providers they are in doubt because your model is not easily searchable on HP website and the battery is the same model also for the smaller 14-bs043na

I do not know what countrty you are in, however you can try HP parts store

Thanks for the reply, very helpful. I'm in the UK, I did look on the hp parts site, that battery says it's used in over 200 products yet says it's not 'orderable online' .  I had already contacted hplaptopbattery.co.uk and they told me it was the wrong battery, but from the pics it looks OK. I've went ahead and ordered the battery from them anyway, if it's the wrong one I'll return it, it's average of 2 days for a reply to every email sent, shipping says here in 4 days so worth it to save a lot of hassle.  I still can't believe how difficult this has been for something that should be simple. 

I've worked in IT for 20 years and have to regularly track down parts from obscure and legacy equipment and haven't failed yet.

Your welcome. For some obscure reason certain models are hard to find on the HP support site. Your specific model does not seem to have a proper support page. Anyway I am sure that the battery you have ordered is the correct one. I also work in the computer repair buisness, owner of a small computer repair shop here in Italy.
