Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ordered a new battery for my laptop hp 15-ay039wm.  I order it through Walmart.

I ordered replacement part #807956-001, and the website description said  it was 11.1 volts.

(Note:  It turns out this website description is wrong.)

So what I ordered (website description) matched exactly the description on my old battery

(part number, voltage, and matching laptop hp 15-ay039wm).

But..... when my new battery arrived it was marked as 14.8 volts, and replacement part#807957-001

My old battery is 11.1 volts.

Can I  safely  use this 14.8 volt battery as a replacement for my 11.1 volt battery?

Or not?

Yes that is one of two alternate replacement batteries for that model. You actually got the 4-cell battery which will give better run time than the 3-cell originally shipped with the machine. The circuitry on the motherboard is set up to accept either the 11.1 or 14.8 volt battery input and translate it to the proper power to run the machine.

Thank you!   Now I know that I can use this battery and I don't need to return it.  Thanks again!
