HP Pavilion Notebook P5P73EA#ABU
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had a problem with my battery for a while now and have been running every kind of problem check I can. I've repeatedly run the HP battery check.

It has recently been giving me differing results going from saying it's really bad and needs replacing to saying it's just aged a little and maybe consider replacing so I don't want to risk and need to get a new battery. I've tried searching for my battery in the HP parts store but always get a search problem error saying nothing matching my search could be found or the odd time where something comes up it says it is no longer being sold, when going through to link on the hp battery check that says "click here to purchase a replacement battery" it just takes me to an error page.

Can someone help me with what battery specifically I need to look for and where the best place to look for one would be please

I am not sure what the risk is of replacing a battery that has become unreliable. At least it is removeable and you do not need to open the chassis. This is the battery you need:

(18) Battery (4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion) 800049-001

HP has it backordered:

So one place to get it is Amazon prime if you are in the USA:

I could not find a genuine HP on amazon.com

This is an inexpensive "compatible" battery (not made under direct HP license):

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-800049-001-HSTNN-LB6S-14-ab006TU-15-ab038TX/dp/B01NBA9LF6/ref=sr_...

Genuine batteries are available from parts houses like this:

http://www.laptopartstore.com/hp-c-1_8/original-41wh-hp-825596001-800049001-800009241-battery-p-1060...

Or eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/i/282785007154?rt=nc

Post back with any other questions. For relatively new laptops I tend to recommend a genuine product and you should buy from a recognized seller. Compatible batteries are acceptable however and I have not really had any problem using them over the years. I find the sellers are very willing to stand behind them if anything does go wrong (rare).

If this is the answer you needed please accept as solution.
