I have had this laptop since starting college, it's been great thus far and I've already upgraded to an m.2 ssd and 16gb of ram, but I'm hoping to get a little more out of it. I noticed the motherboard has the gpu socket, so basically I'm wondering if they used the same motherboard (but shipped with a gpu) in any other laptops because I'd like to swap it in for some extra power.

How do you know it has a GPU socket ? You have to buy a whole new System board (if available) which contains
- Motherboard
- CPU
- dGPU if any
- Windows license
Because all 4 components above are on one piece of hardware called System board.
If you wish, you can use System boards of the series from a list on page 49 of the following manual
