HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c3000 (B00JKAV)
Microsoft Windows 11

When I bought it a week ago, I mistakenly purchased the notebook with a German keyboard. I want to replace this keyboard layout with the Swiss German keyboard (SG). What options do I have?

Hi @PC-Meister,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the German keyboard layout on the HP 17.3-inch Laptop PC 17-c3000!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Change Keyboard Language Settings

You can change the keyboard language settings in Windows 11 to match the Swiss German layout. Here's how:

  1. Search for and open Language settings in Windows.
  2. Add Swiss German to the list of preferred languages by selecting "Add a language," then follow the prompts to add the desired language.
  3. Set the Windows display language to Swiss German.
  4. Ensure that your keyboard is selected under the language settings.

This will allow you to type using the Swiss German layout without physically changing the keyboard.

2. Purchase a Swiss German Keyboard

You can purchase a replacement Swiss German keyboard if you prefer a physically different keyboard layout. You might need assistance with replacing the keyboard, which can be done through an authorized service provider or by following maintenance guides.

3. USB or External Keyboard

As an alternative, you can use an external Swiss German keyboard that connects via USB or Bluetooth. This allows easy switching between different keyboard layouts.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your prompt assistance. I already set the keyboard language to Swiss German (SG) during the initial installation of Windows 11 when I first started using it.

My question was whether HP offers to replace this keyboard. I would, of course, cover the costs myself. This is because I do not want to void the warranty (bought in August 2025) by tinkering with the device myself. Unfortunately, the HP support page is completely confusing and not at all helpful in cases like mine.
