HP Pavilion 15-cs1067nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to replace my 2 memory cards.  As specified for my Laptop, I ordered 2 8GB 1Rx8 PC4 - 2400T - S17 cards.  I was able to insert the right card.  However, the left card did not fit the slots.  Is there a 1Lx8 available?  I could not find one.

The Primary issue here is that my laptop will no boot at all.  It just stays on the HP start screen.  The diagnostics state:

Memory Fast Check Failed

Failure ID: U4SEL8-9T8BAF-MFPXGK-40HA03

Memory Module 2: Bottom-slot 2(right)

Please help if you can!  Thank you!

Jim

@Swimmeroo,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion 15-Cs1067nr (7HW84UA) according to: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-15-cs1067nr#memory, could accept up to 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks.

I am curious what 2 x 8GB RAM (brand, model, part number) you purchased (please provide), it should be matching something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Team-PC4-19200-2400MHz-Laptop-TED416G2400C16DC-S01/dp/B01BU77LQW/ref=sr_1_2?c..., and BOTH RAM slots are identical, so they should fit both 8GB RAM sticks.

The error code you provided means this:

Which makes me wonder what your RAM slots look like.  If you could provide a close-up picture, that would help.

Kind Regards,

Thank you, NonSequitur777 for your reply!  When you look at the slot on either side, the pins don't line up the same.  The guiding slots are in different places (I'm not an expert, though).  The new memory board description is as follows:

Picture of Memory Cards inside Laptop.  Note that the left slot has the original memory card and the right has the new one.

Hope this helps.  You see when  you turn around the memory card for the left side, the pins don't line up with the slots.  Thank you!

@Swimmeroo,

I guess I am not entirely sure what the issue is.  The HP p/n: L50262-601 ("MOTHERBOARD UMA i7-8565U WIN") RAM slots are supposed to line up as mirror images, with one RAM stick showing its frontside, and the other RAM stick showing its backside:

As seen here:

What I can see from your picture, is that the top 8GB RAM stick is a Hynix 8GB DDR4 HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH NO AC, and the one below is an HP 8GB DDR4 (p/n: 862398-855).  Even though you got different brands RAM sticks, they should run fine, at 2400 MHz, and in dual-channel mode.

SK Hynix 8GB DDR4 1Rx8 PC4-2400T HMA81GS6AFR8N-UH SO-DIMM Laptop RAM Memory at Amazon.com

Please shut down your laptop, removing power and disconnecting your battery, and line up both RAM sticks as shown in my first picture, take a picture, and post.

Kind Regards,

Thank you, NonSequitur777!  I didn't realize that you could install upside down.  I thought there was only one way to install.  I will try and send you pictures.  Thank you, again! (I'm definitely learning!)
