I lost my stylus so I bought a replacement HP USI pen. It does magnetically attach but it doesn't work even after leaving it for one day. I see low battery in Chrome OS for the stylus but no charging indication. How do I know if the replacement connected?

Hi @halihassan
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand you've purchased a replacement HP USI pen for your Chromebook X2, and while it magnetically attaches to the device, it doesn't appear to be functioning as expected. I'll do my best to help.
To better understand the situation, could you kindly share:
- The full model number of your Chromebook X2.
- The exact model of the replacement HP USI pen you purchased.
- Was the replacement stylus purchased directly from HP or an authorized reseller?
- Have you had a chance to test the pen on another USI-compatible Chromebook?
In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:
- Verify ChromeOS is up to date
- Open Settings > About ChromeOS > Check for updates.
- Install any available updates and restart the Chromebook.
- Check stylus battery status
- Navigate to Settings > Device > Stylus (if available).
- Verify whether the battery percentage changes after the pen has been attached for some time.
- Test in a drawing application
- Open a drawing or note-taking app, such as Google Canvas.
- Check whether the stylus registers input there.

So here as I understand chromeOS is detecting the stylus battery level, which suggests the Chromebook may be recognizing the pen. However, if the battery level remains low or does not increase while attached, the pen may not be charging correctly, may require additional pairing initialization, or there could be a compatibility issue between the stylus model and the Chromebook X2 version. Confirming the exact Chromebook model and stylus model will help determine whether the devices are fully compatible and what the next steps should be.
I hope this helps.
