HP Chromebook x360 - 14c-ca0030ca
I've just bought a replacement touchpad for my HP x360 14c (M00314-001) to replace my previous cracked one. I've installed it in the laptop, but the machine isn't recognizing it.

The pad was brand new and sealed. Zif cables look undamaged and are tight in the connectors.
Things I've tried:
  • Hard reset
  • running evtest (not showing)
  • Guest mode
  • diagnostics app with 'input' flag enabled (not showing).
Anything else I could try? Still not sure whether this is a hardware or software problem. Considering a powerwash, but don't fancy going through the rigmarole unless I've exhausted every other option. I've seen some users have installed alternate drivers in linux, but it doesn't sound like that should be necessary.

The pad was from a 14c-CA0053DX and my laptop's a 14c-CA-0030ca. Even though the touchpad's part number's the same, could that make a difference?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone has.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that the touchpad is not working, I am glad to assist you.

Hard reset your Chromebook

Follow the steps below:

  1. Turn off your Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold Refresh + tap Power .
  3. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh .

Try these steps to fix the issue

  • Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the touchpad.
  • Press the Esc key several times.
  • Drumroll your fingers on the touchpad for ten seconds.
  • Turn your Chromebook off, then back on again.
  • If you have more than one account on your Chromebook, delete the account that has problems with the touchpad, then re-add the account.

Keep me posted.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
