I am making some upgrades to my laptop, and one of the worst things about this one is that it only has single-band WiFi 4. So I am upgrading the WiFi card and the antenna. I am trying to figure out exactly how to replace the antenna for the dual band antennas I am getting, but I can’t find a video or article for my specific laptop. So I am wondering if I could get an in-depth tutorial on how to do so. I would take it to a repair shop, but that would be a waste of money for this. I have already replaced a few parts in my laptop, so I kind of know what I’m doing. I just need to know how to install dual-band antennas into my laptop.

This is actually something I have done more than a few times. There is no video or instructions for the specific upgrade as HP does not support. You may find some general video on youtube but the procedure would be a little different for different models.  Here is the Service Manual:

Focus in on pages 39 and forward. You just need to add a second antenna. It will be anchored up above the screen. Figure out how the existing antenna is routed around the screen down through the hinge and through the motherboard to the wifi card. Mirror that with the second antenna. Anchor it on the other side of the screen route the antenna down the other side and then bring it through the motherboard at the same place as the original antenna and route it through the same channels and hooks, bringing it to the wi-fi card and attach to the second post. It is a very labor intensive job and takes some fine motor skills.
