Is it worthwhile having HP replace the HDD with SSd or will it be much cheaper and less hassles doing it myself on a new Laptop

Hi:
it will be much cheaper to do the work yourself if you are up to taking the notebook apart, which is pretty difficult.
Below is the link to the service manual. The HDD R & R procedure can be found in chapter 5.

HP would probably charge you at least a few hundred dollars for the parts and labor and you can buy a decent SSD for less than $75 dollars.

Thanks, I had previously downloaded the Servicce Manual and am prepaired to get my hands dirty. My New Laptop had to be returned as it did not set up properly when I received it and is now headed back to HP to correc the problem. Figured the cost would probably be somewhat higher to have them do it.
Again thanks for the quick response and effort. Guess I will wait and do the exchange myself once my Laptop gets back and everything is working as it should.
