My HP Notebook 15-ay196nr has the Toshiba MQ01ABD100 (2.5-inch 9.5 mm form factor). With which SSD may I replace it?
Is it also a good idea to upgrade the RAM from 8GB to 16GB when upgrading to the SSD?

Hi,
8GB of RAM is good for everyday use. So, you could first upgrade the HDD to an SSD which will give a very noticeable gain in everyday performance. (max RAM is 32GB)
You can replace the 2.5" Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD of your preferred brand and capacity.
Example

On page 60 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive

You can create a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 on it (before replacing HDD)
The use the USB to perform a clean install of the OS on the SSD. Once installed let Windows completely
update and it will find the necessary drivers.
Hope it helps,
David
