I'm looking to add a second drive to my laptop by replacing the optical drive with a hard drive caddy. However, I'm not sure what size caddy I would need to buy. I measured the optical drive at 0.7cm, or 7mm, but I want to make sure that I have the right size before I go buying anything. I haven't decided whether to add another HDD here or an SSD, which addresses my second question - if I replace the optical drive with an SSD, will the location of this new drive affect the data transfer speed compared to putting it in the internal drive slot? If so, would I be better putting my HDD in the optical drive and the SSD in the internal slot?

Any help, suggestions, or information would be very much appreciated, thanks!

It has Fixed, serial ATA, 9.5-mm tray load.. SSD won't work as you wish because the interface is slow.

Thank you, that is what I was mainly wondering about. If I put the HDD in the optical drive with the caddy, and the SSD in the internal hard drive bay, would that be worth doing since the HDD has a slower speed than the SSD anyways? I'm mainly thinking of booting/running off of the SSD and just using the HDD as storage.

That is a normal way to do
