Product: HP Envy 17-J025er
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good evening!

On my laptop went out of order processor. The master said that a replacement is required. Can I install an Intel i7-3632qm processor instead of a broken Intel I5-3230m? The characteristics are similar, but I'm not sure if the BIOS supports it.

Here is the Service Manual:

Your motherboard has the HM77 chipset so as you have figured out you have to use a 3rd gen CPU. You have to assume you can only use the processors listed in the Manual and the i7-3230M is not one of them. Also it is unlikely the problem is the processor. Much more likely to be the motherboard, just statistically.
