hi,
I have exactly the same problem on hp 840 g1 laptops but the driver you mentioned (sp65260.exe)  is no longer available on the HP website.

I tested all the other Intel I217LM/V and I218LM Gigabit Ethernet Driver drivers available but I still have the problem.

The problem is solved if I uncheck the LAN / WLAN Switching in the bios but it is not an option

Did you have an answer of HP for your ticket?

Hi,

I now have the exact same problem with our whole range of HP EliteBook 840 G1.

When the LAN/WLAN switching is enabled and on ac-adapter,  the computers hangs during Windows 7 Ent x64 startup when no LAN cable is inserted and a buzzing/humming noise is coming from the speakers.

Inserting the lan cable stops the buzzing and the computer continues to start up.

We're running the latest BIOS and latest drivers. The mentioned january 2014 driver that should fix the problem is not to be found anywhere.

I also noticed that the problem does not exist on Windows 7 Ent x86.

Disabling LAN/WLAN swiching is not an option in our organization.

Did any of you solve this problem?

Regards

Toffy,

Hello,

We are having the same issue at our company, and I cannot for the life of me locate the softpaq sp65260.  I was wondering if you still have it?  I have tried everything else, including the newest drivers, but have been unable to resolve the issue.

Hello everyone, I don't know if anyone is still following this post, but I was finally able to locate the driver on a Russian website.  Now, I know it sounds shady, but I tested the driver in a VM and then on a non production machine to verify that it is the real thing, and it is! it works perfectly.  Here is the link. - http://www.notik.ru/drivers/hp/envy/14#

I had the same issue. I solved it by disabling the bluetooth adapter in the bios. Even after it was re-enabled the problem did not re-occur.

Our company enabled LAN/WLAN switching last month on all laptops currently in use (840 G1, G2 and G3). I am currently aware of 7 users with the issue mentioned in this thread but I'm pretty sure there are many more. Things I have tried so far:

- Upgrade BIOS to latest version 1.40

- Upgrade driver for ethernet adapter Intel I218-LM to latest version available on HP website

Upgrade driver for ethernet adapter Intel I218-LM to latest version available on Intel website

None of the above actions solve the problem. I'm amazed that an issue discovered in 2014 still remains unsolved in 2017. Our laptops are running both x86 and x64 versions of Windows 7 Enterprise and the issue affects all versions.

We either have to disable LAN/WLAN switching on this model or tell our users to plug in a network cable as workaround. Neither of these options are a good solution.

I have looked for SP65260 but cannot find a valid or reliable link. Someone @HP please provide us with a working link or solution to this problem.
