Dear HP Support Team,

I have a serious issue with my HP Pavilion laptop (Model: 15-cc563st). Recently, I attempted to replace the internal cooling fan, but I mistakenly installed the wrong fan model. Since then, my laptop no longer powers on, displays no lights, and does not charge when connected to a power source.

No power or response when pressing the power button.

No charging light or any other indicator LEDs turning on.

Please how can I fix it

Hi @Tafiyau,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Replacing internal hardware like a cooling fan always carries risk, and what you’re describing sounds like the wrong fan may have shorted the motherboard or damaged power delivery components.

Disclaimer:

HP does not officially support self-service repairs beyond end-user replaceable parts (RAM, battery, etc.). Replacing internal parts like the fan:

  • Voids any remaining warranty (if applicable),
  • May cause irreparable hardware damage if incorrect components are used.
  • Can result in electrical shorts that prevent power delivery, damage the logic board, or kill internal fuses.

1. Remove All Power Sources

  • Disconnect battery (internal).
  • Unplug the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds to drain the capacitors.

2. Reconnect Original (Correct) Fan

  • If you still have the original fan, reconnect it and try powering on again.
  • If possible, consult the HP Maintenance & Service Guide for your model:
HP Pavilion 15-cc563st service guide (searchable PDF)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
