I recently purchased an HP Envy x360 13-inch (2-in-1) laptop about a month ago, and I’m experiencing persistent issues with the device. When I shut down the system at the end of the day, it often refuses to power on the next day, even after multiple attempts using the power button. The battery is fully charged, and plugging it in doesn’t resolve the issue either.
Additionally, when I try to restart the laptop, it frequently shuts down instead. Sometimes, I get a "system ran into a problem" error, and the device attempts to restart, but it shuts down completely instead. After several attempts, I’ve noticed that closing the screen flap completely seems to be the only way to get the device to power on again—though this is inconsistent and unreliable.

If your HP Envy x360 13-inch (2-in-1) laptop refuses to power on after being shut down and frequently shuts down instead of restarting, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Perform a Hard Reset
Disconnect All Peripherals:
- Remove all external devices like USB drives, printers, and external hard drives.
Hard Reset the Laptop:
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Release the power button and wait a few seconds before pressing it again to turn on the laptop.
Check for BIOS and Driver Updates
Update BIOS:
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop model number (HP Envy x360 13-inch).
- Download and install the latest BIOS update available for your laptop.
Update Drivers:
- Download and install the latest drivers for your laptop from the HP Support website.
Perform System Diagnostics
- Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press the power button and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
