Hello,
I currently have an 8GB DDR4 SODIMM memory manufactured by Samsung in my notebook. The specific model is M471A1K43BB1-CRC (CL17, 2400 MHz). For more details, I’ve attached a screenshot from AIDA64.
Since 8GB is insufficient nowadays, I’ve decided to expand the memory in this notebook. I’m considering purchasing one of the following models:
- M471A2K43CB1-CTD
- M471A2K43DB1-CTD
Both have higher frequencies (2666 MHz) and higher CL values (CL19) compared to the memory I currently have.
My Questions:
- Compatibility: Are these two models compatible with the current memory in my laptop (M471A1K43BB1-CRC)?
- Recommendation: Which of these two models would you recommend purchasing? Both appear to have identical specifications according to the seller, but I would appreciate any insights or user experiences that might help me decide.
Thank you in advance for your assistance and advice!
Best wishes

Unfortunately you are going about this backwards.
Start with identifying your HP laptop product with a product name and product number (SKU)
HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years.
It is difficult to help you if we don't know the hardware configuration of the laptop that you own.
Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.
Method #2: Press the power button and immediately tap the F10 key to invoke the BIOS. In the Main section, you will find the Product number or Product ID. Post that in your next reply in your thread.
Method #3: Press the power button and immediately tap the F2 key.
Method #4: If powering on is not an option, take a look at the bottom of the laptop for the label with the product name and product number. For a desktop look at the rear for the label.
If your laptop has HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI version 10.3.0.0, there is a System Information section that also has the Product ID.
We need that information, along with the installed Operating System information to help you.

Hi Erico,
thank you for your reply and I apologize for omitting this important information.
The serial number of my laptop is [Personal Information Removed]
Is this addition of information sufficient to resolve the question I asked?
Best wishes

Identify the laptop with a product number (SKU) or product name.
I suggest you read the explanation I gave on how to do that in my previous post more carefully.
Unfortunately, using a serial number as identification isn't allowed here.

I'm sorry, I didn't know that sharing serial numbers is forbidden here.
According to the label on the bottom of the laptop, the product number is:
X4N09AV
I hope I have now listed all the necessary information correctly.
Looking forward for your reply.
Best wishes

Thank you.
The serial number issue is a requirement by HP, not mine.
The simplest manner to find guaranteed compatible memory for a notebook is by using a mainstream memory manufacturer website. It save your time and keeps frustration out of the mix.
For your HP ProBook 650 G3 laptop I chose Crucial Memory and Kingston memory.
Crucial Memory guaranteed compatible memory module and SSD upgrades
https://eu.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/probook-650-g3
Kingston memory
https://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/model/95698/hp-hpe-probook-650-g3
Finding a compatible Samsung module for your laptop other than what is already installed is quite a time consuming and difficult process. It also gives you no guarantees that your chosen upgrade will work.
