My circa 2008 HP Pavillion laptop expired and I pulled the HD out. The HD measures 4" x 1 7/8" by about 1/4" or so. It is a WD Scorpio 320 gb ICES-003 Class B.
It is a Serial ATA HD. WD3200 BEVT-60ZCT0.
I am not sure if I have provided all the necessary information and the computer itself has been recycled so I cannot provide the exact computer type anymore. Please let me know if I provided the necessary info from the HD.
I would like to find an enclosure to put the HD into to use the HD as an external storage device. Could someone please recommend an enclosure that would work for this HD? If possible, also please provide an Amazon link to purchase one from.
I found these 2 Amazon links but am not sure if they were enclosures which could work:
Is there a free formatting software available (from perhaps SnapFiles.com) that I could reformat the HD with to erase the Win 10 and all etc, to free up more space?
Thank you.

Hello, if you just want to use your disk to an external disk In an other PC, you just need an USB adaptor, same the 2 links you have given.
You can mesure the height of your SSD, if it is 7 mm you can use the adaptor in first link, if it is 9.5 mm it is not indicates if it is compatible on your first link so it is recommended to use the second one.
For format the disk, if you want to recover datas on it you need to begin by this. If you want keep datas on it, you can just delete Windows and programs folder.
If you want to have a blank disk, you can in effect delete all. You can try to use the internal option in Windows for this, right clic on "this PC", "manage" and at left go to "disk manager". Verify you have been on your external drive and right clic on all partitions for delete it.
If it is not working, you can in effect use an external software to delete all partitions. I don't know Snapfiles, personally I am using Linux systems but in Windows I know this one:
EaseUS® Partition Master - Le meilleur partition manager ...

Thank you so much for your reply. I remeasured the HD and it is not 7mm and appears to be a tad over 9mm, so I'll say it is 9.5mm and the other two dimensions are exactly 4" x 1 13/16". I gather one just buys the enclosure in the second link, then follows the included instructions to hook it up and use it? It should just plug into the enclosure I hope.
What you say about just deleting files makes perfect sense and I suppose I could just stay with that to not complicate things too much. Thank you so much for the link too... I will follow that if needed after I buy the enclosure.
😊

Yes you just need insert the HDD into the adapter, and connect it to USB with the cable included.
