Trying to replace the internal DC In cable to see if I can get my HP Envy x360 laptop to charge.  The part I pulled out is 90W 799735-F51 REV:B, but all the cheap replacements on Amazon, etc. appear to be ...REV:A.  Is there a difference between REV:B (the part I want to replace) and REV:A (the only replacement part that I seem to be able to find)?  They look the same, but am I going to fry the computer if I try REV:A ?  Thank you for any insights!

Hi @Pappy4Evah, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The revision difference (REV:A vs. REV:B) usually indicates minor design changes, improvements, or manufacturing optimizations, but it doesn't necessarily mean incompatibility. If the connectors, pin configuration, voltage, and wattage ratings are identical, then REV:A should technically work as a replacement.

However, before installing it, I recommend:

  1. Comparing the Parts Physically – Ensure the connector shape, pin layout, and cable length match your original REV:B part.
  2. Checking Voltage/Wattage Ratings – Since your current part is 90W, the replacement should also support at least 90W.
  3. Check service manual - HP service manuals or part compatibility lists might clarify if REV:A works with your specific Envy x360 model.

If you can't find an exact REV:B replacement, REV:A should work as long as all specs match.

In most cases, these minor revisions don’t affect fundamental functionality, but if there were a design improvement in REV:B (e.g., improved heat resistance or better shielding), using an older revision could have some drawbacks. That said, it's unlikely to "fry" your computer, but there’s a small risk that it may not work optimally.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
