HP Pavilion - 14-bf102nj
Microsoft Windows 11

my laptop came originally with 256 nvme HD. need to upgrade it to a bigger bone.

could not find online the limit of the hardware regarding the size of a new one:

500 BG? 1TB? any special designation?

attached are pics of the original HD next to its slot.

I happen to have a new NVME HD. 1TB, - crucial p3 plus m.2 , 2280.

can it be used?

many thanks

@giladharouvi,

Your service manual (on page 2) states that your model only supports M.2 SATA SSDs, not NVMe SSDs.

Most likely, your current 256 GB drive is an M.2 SATA SSD. The screenshot is blocked by a moderator possibly because of a product serial number being displayed in the screenshot. If you post the M.2 drive's model number, we can verify.

Most likely, a Crucial P3 NVMe SSD doesn't work, and you need an M.2 SATA SSD.

Many thanks, tk_srq . but wat is the max capacity of the new M2 my pavilion 14 will support?

The manual shows up to 512 GB M.2 SATA3 SSD, but that's not max size. You can install 1 TB or 2 TB if you wish.
