Ribbon cable and jack incompatible

HP Recommended
Example: Pavilion dv6t-2300
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Re: HP info ser.# [edit], product# WH770AV, Model# DV6t-2300

In a nutshell.......I had to replace motherboard for different reasons than this issue.

I installed MB, connected all ribbon cable but one for the main power switch. The ribbon fits fine into it's jack on the MB. Problem is it won't connect on the switch side on a small circuit board. The jack on this main power circuit board isn't even close to seating a ribbon cable. It's a different jack altogether. I just don't know how it was working before unless an adapter type part got lost when I disassembled it. When I removed the cable from power switch board, you have to reach under the laptops' panel housing the power switch/volume/speaker external panel and remove ribbon and then the external panel can be seen underneath.
