Microsoft Windows 11

I just replaced a faulty cooling fan with a new one, as it tends to fail on the HP Spectre 360x 15. no error code appears on bootup, but as i examined further, since i didnt feel any air blowing from that side, i decided to invastigate without the laptop cover on. I can see the fan turns on at the start, But after a couple of seconds it then stops working. i tried firing up a game to see if it would turn on, but to no sucess. Tried couple troubleshooting methods like reseting the Bios to its default config, ect. nothing worked. Any ideas on what could be going on? I dont think the new fan is faulty since it turn on, and doesnt make sounds on the bearings. i thought it might be the conection, but it would be sending an error code at bootup, which makes me think this might be a software problem.

Hi @RF_005,

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing cooling fan issues with your HP Spectre 360x.

I suggest that you run an extensive system test by following the steps listed below:
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
3. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
4. From the main menu, click System Test and then click on Extensive Test.
5. Click Run once.

Ran an extensive sistems check and it shows everything is fine, then when i do my random bootups into the bios very rarley it marks the fan is failing. turned off the always on option on the Bios and it helped getting it going. Makes me think that it was some sort of software issue combined with the fact that the computer fans cannot handle the high temperatures the computer runs at when pushed , that caused some wierd problem.

ps. used oem fans for replacement, Directly sourced from delta electronics

The cooling fan's activation is dependent on the default settings in the BIOS ROM file.

It will turn on at a preset ΔT (temperature differential between two sensors) and back off when the temperature drops below that temp.

That is how they are supposed to work.
