Hp Omen 15-dc0017nm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, Is normal that my omen notebook turn on right fan every time I close lid? It spinning rly quet and slow but idk why.  Only right fan spinning on idle when lid is closed, left fan not, and when I open lid fan stops.

Afer a while I can feel rly cool air from the fan so I think its pointless to spin all the time. I disabled in bios ''fan always on'' feature

@matija1991,

Thank you for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums! I see from your post you are having issues related to Fan on your new HP Omen notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What exactly seems to be an issue with the computer?

Does the computer shuts down or does it go into sleep/hibernate mode when you close the lid?

Have you tried to check the power settings?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on notebook

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

  1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

  1. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
  2. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
  3. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the Bios and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

You could also try to check the settings for managing the power options - HP Notebook PCs - Managing Power Options (Windows 10)

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting for further assistaince.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

Bios is latest, everything is normal, i have many computer experience.

I set in power settings when close lid '' do nothing '' and when i close lid, laptop is running, but when i put my hand to right vent, i feel that after i close lid fan start spinning very slow, and when i open lid fan stop spinning.

I rly wanna know if this some kind of laptop feature or some issue. I have few more days for return in my local store so i rly need to know about that as soon as possible.

Example, im downloading some torrent over night and i close lid, after few hours i feel that right fan blowing rly cold air, so there is no need for fan at all when not doing anything on laptop.

I know there is an option in bios to keep fan running all the time, and when i enable that option only right fan spining when my lid open or close on idle. But when i disable that option both fans not spining when laptop is cold on idle but imidiatly when i close lid right fan start to spin slow like the always fan on option in bios enabled.

Im not very good in english when need to explain somsthing but i hope you understandand.

Simple explain is, bios "always fan on" option not have effect when laptop is running with screen lid closed

@matija1991,

I am responding on behalf of @Jeet_singh as he is out for the day. It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I reviewed your case and I understand that the right side fan starts spinning when you close the lid.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I would like to inform you that the fan function is system managed and there is no option or settings (apart from turning it off/On in BIOS) to manually start or stop the fan. Having said that, as you have mentioned that you have set the power option for closing the lid to "Do Nothing" it means that all the hardware components on the computer are still active.

This is a normal behavior and doesn't seem to be an issue.

Hope that answers your question.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!

I understand that, and like I said when set option ''always fan on'' setting in bios to DIsable, that only works when lid is open and laptop is idle, but fan start spin  as soon as i close lid, and when open lid fan stop again. It's not a big deal but I would like to know official if that  ''feature'' set  strictly by HP

I am having this same problem. As soon as I open the lib the fan stops. But as soon as I close the lid the fan runs constantly and loud. The accepted solution was sent as a private message. Thanks...
