Hello,

I recently bought an HP 17-cn0037nb laptop (this one: https://support.hp.com/nl-nl/document/c07650599). There is space for a HDD but the cable and connector to connect it to the motherboard is missing. I have already searched online for a flex SATA HDD cable (ZIF?), but have not been able to find one directly. I then started searching on AliExpress (because some people have had success with this on this forum) and I bought this cable: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32858539717.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.715640a2vvnPIC
I know my laptop wasn't listed among the compatible models, but for that money I was willing to take my chances. In the meantime, the cable has arrived, but apparently is not recognised by the laptop. I would suspect that it's just a piece of hardware (some cables attached to a connector), but that doesn't appear to be the case now. So, either I have received a broken cable, or the cable is actually not compatible with my laptop.

Could someone please confirm that only the correct cable will work? Or would spare part M75893-001, which I found on HP Partsurfer, also work?

Hi:

Chapter 3 of the service manual does not even list a spare part number for the 2.5" drive cable, so it would be anybody's guess what part number you need.

My recommendation to you before you throw any more good money after bad, would be to just replace the 512 GB NVMe SSD with one having a larger storage capacity.

Thank you for your reply.

I understand what you are suggesting, but that would mean trowing away a perfectly good 1TB HDD...

You're very welcome.

So, I ordered part M75893-001 from HP Parts Store on the 28th of November. The part was in stock. On the 6th of December however I received an order cancellation from HP because the transaction has been declined.

Today I tried to order the part again but just like that the price went up from 13 euro to 43,80 euro. What just happened?
