15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a 15t with an SSD, planning to remove the installed drive with a 500gb SSD of my own. When I received the laptop, I discover the installed SSD was M.2 type ... not a SATA as I had incorrectly assumed. It appears I can remove the M.2 and install my SATA drive, but a cable is required to connect the drive to the controller. Trying to get a p/n from HP has been frustrating. There are cables available from other sources, but unsure of their quality.

Does anyone have an HP p/n for the SATA cable?

Also, its not clear where the connector connects to the motherboard. Ideas?

Dennis

You are set.

M.2 will be boot and SSD will be storage.

Fast boot with the M.2 and extra storage with the SSD.

Perfect setup.

Very good ... the parts are on order. Do I need to remove the M.2 stick after installing the 500GB SATA SSD, or can it remain as it’s own separate memory drive?

I am finding some conflicting information???

The best thing would be to take a look inside the laptop.

In your manual start on page 39.

Check to see if you have an M.2 slot and a SATA slot???

I have an M.2 slot containing a 128gb stick .... although there is a spot for a SATA drive to mount, there is no electrical connector. I ordered the connector. So the question remains, can I leave the m.2 installed and install the 500gb in the SATA slot as a second drive?

Yes that would be the best setup.

Could you please post some pics of the M.2 and the SATA connectors???
