Hi

I am wondering whether the M.2 slot on the Envy x360 13-ag0002na is Nvme or Sata.

Here's the Service Manual:

Your model comes with a 128 gig M.2 which is SATA. The M.2 slot however, can accept an NVME type M.2 so you could upgrade to one of those. Post back if you need any more help and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

If I decided to put a nvme SSD inside such as the 970 Evo would the speed be limited to sata.

No if its compatible you will get full NVME experience. In other words an NVME M.2 either works all in or does not work at all. In your case it will work all in.
