Hello!
Recently I found that one of the two RAM slots had burned out. In my laptop there are 2 slots for 2 memory modules 2 GB (4 GB in total) and as I said, only 1 module works on 2 GB, which leads to a decrease in the productivity of the laptop.
My question is whether I can insert one module 4 Gb in one slot (SO-DIMM DDR2)? If so, is it possible to put SO-DIMM DDR2-800 4Gb (motherboard bus 800 MHz, but factory memory module at 667 MHz)? Thank you in advance!

Hi,

If we look on page 2 of service manual, your PC actually supports 8GB of PC2-5300, 667-MHz, DDR2  (2x4GB), so it will not be a problem to insert a 4GB stick in the working slot. 667Mhz is the speed supported. It is possible that you could also insert 800Mhz stick, however it will still run at the lower speed.

Service manual:

Hope it helps,

Yes. According to the Service Manual, p. 2:

Manual

It can support 8 gigs or 2 x 4 gig modules so yes you can install a single 4 gig module in the one good memory slot.

DDR2-800 aka PC2-6400 will downclock to the 667mhz speed supported by the motherboard.

It is a bit expensive and hard to find I know.
