Spectre x360 13-4105ns
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 512 Gb SSD and would like to upgrade to 1 Tb. I have seen a service manual posted by another user, and it seems it is possible (1 Tb M.2 2280/DS SATA-3 PCIe, NVMe, SSD with TLC).

I am looking for that disk specs in Amazon or E-bay, and would like to receive any recomendation of a compatible SSD for my laptop. I have seen the Samsung 860 EVO, but it comes in different sizes.

Which SSD and size can I use?.

Best regards,

Miguel

You're very welcome.

I'm pretty sure the USA site report is correct.

While the Spanish site for whatever reason, doesn't have your model, it has this one which has almost the same specs as yours, and lists those MVMe drives as supported.

Hi, Miguel:

Here is the crucial report for your model.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-spectre-x360-13-4105ns

It supports both SATA and NVMe M.2 SSD's.

You would want a NVMe SSD because they provide better performance.

They have a Spanish website but when I enter the model number, I don't get anything.

You can enter the NVMe part number you are interested in on the Crucial Spanish website and they should have it available.

Hi, Paul,

Thanks for your reply. I have searched in the spanish web the same model CT1000MX500SSD4 and the product exists.

But it happens something funny. The USA website says it´s compatible with the 13-4105ns, but the spanish website doesn´t recognize my model as compatible. I used their Cruzialscan utility.

I have send a question to the support team, and will wait for their reply.

I´m sure you´re right. I´ll wait for their reply (monday it´s a holiday in Spain), but I think I´ll go for that SSD. BTW, do you know if the SSD package comes with all the neccesary to clone my present disk (external case and cable to connect to USB) .

I have Acronis in my laptop installed and suppouse I can use it. I am thinking of taking it to a laptop service to do the upgrade, since I´m not so sure about being able to do it myself. Done hw in the past but not these thin and modern laptops.

Best regards.

Hi:

Crucial says it comes with the cloning software.

Package Content: M.2 SSD PCIe NVMe Gen 3, Acronis® True Image™ for Crucial cloning software and installation instructions

You can also use the HP cloud recovery client utility to make a bootable recovery drive to reinstall W10

Here is an info link for how to use that utility.

I agree that nowadays it is pretty hard to take these new notebooks apart, but here is the link to the service manual if you want to see if you are up to doing the job yourself....

Hi, Paul,

I have been chatting with Crucial support and after a long conversation, everything is clear now. I write it here in case it can be of any help to others.

- Spanish web may not be updated as regularly as USA. You should take USA as the default.

- For the cloning process, I have to buy an adapter to connect the SSD to USB. I found this one:

https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07KBT19PT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I receive it, I´ll try to do the process myself, after reviewing the service manual.

That will be in about a month when I travel to Spain and get the SSD and adapter.

Best regards,

Miguel

Hi, Miguel:

Hopefully, all will go well.

Probably the hardest part will be opening up the notebook.

Maybe buy a set of notebook pry tools that will help from scratching and marring the plastic.

Let us know how things turned out.

I have everything installed (the Cruzial 1 Tb SSD) and the old 500 Gb SSD in an external case. I took the laptop and SSD to a service company and they did it in a a few hours without any problem. Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Miguel
